There are several "branches" of Sawmill from which we periodically release new versions. The branch(es) that interest you depend on what you're using Sawmill for, how important stability is to you, and whether you need the latest features, and whether you want to help us test Sawmill. The branches are:

• production. This is the most stable (bug-free) branch. We almost never add new features to production-- the only changes we make are bug fixes. This makes this branch appropriate for production environments, or other situations where stability is the highest priority.

• previous. This is the previous production branch. This is the final release of a series of bug-fix releases in this branch. It it usually very stable, even more so than the production branch, but it does not have the latest features of the production version and is not supported as well. You should generally only use this if you have an existing installation from this branch, and do not want to upgrade.

In addition, pre-release versions are available. Pre-release versions are snapshots of the latest development source, and therefore include the latest features; however, they are highly unstable, and completely untested.
