"sawmill 6.4.6 on linux - updates stopped working"

I'm not sure why, we've made no changes to the box that has been working pretty much flawlessly for months. It has been 5 days since the last db update. I've tried to update individual configs, but it just hangs. The update function never actually starts in the web interface. I click on Update Database from Log Source, and IE acts like it's working but never does anything. I've tried rebooting the server just to make sure there wasn't some kind of memory leak going on. We're using sawmill's internal database, so it's not a MySQL issue.

Everything appears normal otherwise. Both sawmill processes are running. Configs are showing up in the listing, but Updates are not working. Is there some form of commandline workaround I can use for the time being?

Thanks in advance.

First thing I would try is upgrading to the latest 6.4 release, this would bring you to 6.4.8a. This is currently available through our "main" download page located here, http://www.sawmill.net/us_downloads.html put in your email address, and then once you submit the next page has a pull down menu which shows the 6.4.8a release as downloadable, select this, then select the platform on the next page.

Below is a cut/paste of "POWER USER TECHNIQUES" from the Sawmill 6.4 documentation page....

You may prefer to build and update your configuration databases from the command line, avoiding the overhead of the web interface. To rebuild a configuration database from the command line, do this:
(Command format for linux/mac/unix)

sawmill -rfcf config-name -cm cd

(replacing config-name with the name of your configuration), or update it using

sawmill -rfcf config-name -cm ud

note, if you are using Windows, you will need to open a command prompt window, then move to the Sawmill install directory and from there run the command as follows:

Sawmill6CL -rfcf config-name -cm ud

i've already tried upgrading to 6.4.8a (we had upgraded before for another issue) and that didn't help.

i tried the update with the command line and got this error

Sawmill 6.4.6; Copyright (c) 2003 Flowerfire
Floating point exception0% 0e E00:00:05 R00:00:00 0b/0b

i can try it on 6.4.8a if you think that would help.

Is it realistic to send us the profile, log data, and database for the profile you are seeing this "floating point exception" in?

We have a http upload link that I can send you, this will allow you to send these data files along and from there we can try to duplicate the environment and see if we get the same issue.

What's the platform you are running on?
