"Scheduler - set parallel processes"

Missing:

An option to set the maximal concurrent processes when updating several profiles at the same time.

You don't say what version of Sawmill you're using, but I suspect it's 8.0.6 or thereabouts. Because there was a bug in 8.0.6, which is fixed in 8.0.7, where scheduled tasks would run all profiles simultaneously, instead of sequentially as designed. If you use a newer version, this bug should be fixed, and you shouldn't see simultaneous updates when you update all profiles.

Or, are you *not* seeing simultaneous updates, but wish you did, for better performance? We have a perl script which will run your updates 4 (or 8, or whatever) at a time, if you want it.

We worked with the production release 8.0.4 and updated our database with about 30 profiles - 500 MB to 1000 MB each - every night. This lead to erroneous databases - some where not recoverable.
Some tasks took 6-8 hours - terminating with errors. Manual updates on this databases failed.
We work with 8.0.7 now. It is still too buggy. We have to reboot the system once every night to avoid corrupt databases. Restarting the service is useless because there are still "Sawmill.exe" processes that will not terminate on a service restart and run endless.

Reproduction of this errors is difficult. Manual updates work sometimes - sometimes they don't. Sometimes they seem to work but the database is only half filled. The afternoon data of the FW1 is missing.

We are running Sawmill 7 parallel again to have a system with intact databases which we are able to work on.

Hi-

As a note, Sawmill 8.0.8 was released and has many issues resolved. I would recommend upgrading to this version.

First Test with version 8.0.8.2.

Updating several databses - canceling all tasks in the "Task"-Tab.
Sawmill indicates "no running tasks".

My Process Explorer says that Sawmill is lying.

Thanks for posting this. Indeed, it appears there's something processing and Sawmill's not showing the progress correctly.

Looks like the cancel is not really getting killed, I've passed this along to development.

I've seen this a couple times, though not consistently. The parsing servers, which are processes spawned by Sawmill to handle multiprocessor builds, do not appear to be exiting when Sawmill's main database build (or update) thread exits. They're supposed to monitor for it to exit, and exit when it does, so this is odd. In one case, this was caused by DNS lookup in the profile, which was lingering for several minutes after the end of the build, trying to close the DNS connections--do you have DNS lookup turned on in your profile?
