"Rosetta should not be required"

After installing Snow Leopard, I tried to launch Sawmill by clicking on the Dock icon.

I was informed that a JavaApplicationStub required Rosetta.

This is silly.

Can you fix this?
I really don't want any software using Rosetta as it will disappear with Mac OS 10.7

thanks,
dave

What's the name of the download you've pulled down?

We ship a x86 & x64 (x86_64) binary for Mac which should not require Rosetta.

You might also check in Getinfo properties for the Sawmill binary to see if Rosetta loading is on by default. I don't believe it would be necessary, or that it should be on by default.

32-bit as it shows that a Mac Pro is required for the 64-bit.
I have a Core 2 Duo iMac.

Not sure why you are seeing this. Doesn't make any sense to me. Possibly best to call our support lines for us too look at what you are seeing, if you'd like us to resolve this.

   Hi-

In Sawmill 8 you can specify a date filter as part of the URL. I will double check with development if there's a method to set a default date range filter in the profile. Stand by.

We'll take a look at this. Sawmill itself doesn't use Rosetta, but the Sawmill.app program which shows the "Use Sawmill" button is written in Java, and apparently the Java stub does require Rosetta. You can run the "sawmill" binary (lowercase s) by double-clicking it, and it will run fine without Rosetta; it will show the URL in a terminal window, but once you're in the browser, it will all be the same. Still, it should be possible to run Java programs without Rosetta, so we'll try to get that working for a future minor release.
