We at Hillingdon, would like sawmill to have a built-in "Device types" report under "Visitor systems".

We would like to know what our mobile phone users are interested in and if anyone is using a games console etc. Are their most visited pages different from desktop users?

While I can write manual filters using a best guess, I would prefer if sawmill has this type of report built-in. I think Google Analytics has this kind of thing so I'm confident that sawmill can rise to the challenge!

The device types could be an enumerated field, updated regularly by sawmill. Devices can be things like: Mobile, Desktop, Console, TV, eBook, Robot, Unknown. Would be nice if we could separate a big mobile device such a iPad from the smaller ones like phones, but that sounds a bit tricky...

In Sawmill 8.5.9 (due out in a couple weeks), there will be a new Device Type report (and field), for profiles created with the "Apache NCSA Combined" (apache_combined.cfg) and Microsoft IIS Extended (W3C) (iisweb.cfg) plug-ins. This will show values like "iPod", "iPad," "Android," "Windows," etc. This has been implemented in a way that will make it fairly easy to add these reports to other web server plug-ins, also. Please give it a whirl when it becomes available, and let us know if that's what you were looking for.
