"Sawmill6CL.exe (v6.5.9) & Windows 2003 Error"

I recently installed Sawmill 6.5.9 on a Windows 2003 platform. Sawmill runs fine, but when I logon to the system, I get a pop up messages saying "Sawmill6CL.exe encounted a problem and needs to close."

Events log:

~~
Faulting application Sawmill6CL.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module Sawmill6CL.exe, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x0003e9e5.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
~~

Sometimes these message pops up several times.

P.S. I use FireDaemon to run Sawmill as a service.

Any ides and help would be appreciated.

Stevan

If you turn off the service, and run Sawmill directly (by double-clicking Sawmill6.exe), do you also get this error? Basically, it means that Sawmill6CL.exe crashed, and you got the report later. Could it have crashed while running a Scheduled task? Are you using the Scheduler? If so, do your Scheduled tasks seem to be completing successfully?

It could be something as simple as someone accessing Sawmill overnight and overloading it with too many queries for the available RAM. That can cause a crash, though more often it will exit cleanly with a memory error.

Sawmill6CL.exe automatically restarts itself when it crashes, so this should not interfere with the availability of the Sawmill server.

We are running Windows2003 with Sawmill running as a service through Srvany.exe (that comes in the Windows Resource Kit). Information on how to do this is in the documentation. This method seems to work well.
