"How do I compile encrypted source on Mac OS X?"

I have downloaded the encrypted source code, and would like to compile it for Mac OS X Server 10.2.8.

How do I compile it? I have some experience doing for Perl modules and the like, but that doesn't work for this.

On the server, I have installed the full complement of Developer Tools provided by Apple, including gcc. I also have Fink installed.

Keep in mind I don't know how to use gcc or Fink, other than when I've used Fink via a GUI for it called FinkCommander. I full root access, both GUI & via command line; and I am comfortable using the command line, provided I know the exact things to type in.

Please follow the instructions on the download page for compiling the encrypted source. If you didn't see the instructions - here's a cut/paste from the download page.....

This file being downloaded is a gzipped tar file containing encrypted ("obfuscated") source code. This code can be compiled on most platforms, so it is useful if your platform is not supported by a binary version of Sawmill. However, that is the only acceptable use of this source code, under the Sawmill license agreement. You may not view the source code or attempt to use it for any purpose except building Sawmill.

To use this source code, run the following command line:

gunzip -c sawmill7.0.10k_crypt_src.tar.gz | tar xf -
cd sawmill-7.0.10k
./configure
make

Once you've done that, you'll have a file called "sawmill" in the current directory and a folder LogAnalysisInfo. This is the Sawmill binary for your platform and it's associated LogAnalysisInfo folder.

Hopefully this helps, please let me know if you have any issues.
