"Help With creating custom reports in Sawmill"

   Hi,

I have Sawmill Enterprise 8.5.6 and I am trying to create reports.
First I created a profile.. Now when I create a New report and add a new element I see multiple issues -

1. First when I go to add a new report element , it pops a window asking for a type with filled in predefined types ,can't you create a custom report ?

2. If I select say type as "Standard - Category" I get Display as 3 options - Graph,Table, Graphs and Table. I choose 'Graphs and Table'

Now When I navigate to 'Graphs' and 'Table' tab in teh window the table 'Category' is disabled !!!!

3. NOw when I go to view reports , the graph doesn't appear ..Why ??

With the above basic issues I am finding very hard to create reports let alone customize...Please help !!!

Also if you can shed some light on creating dashboard it would be helpful.. I am using palo alto log format.

Appreciate your response .

Thanks !

P.S. -I will add that I see limited documentation on creating reports for latest 8.6 Sawmill version..All the post point to old version and most of the time the menu mentioned in the post doesn't match my menu.. I recommend getting more documentation around it which would be helpful

In table reports, only the aggregating numerical fields are graphed. The first column is a non-aggregating field which will not have a graph.

In reports such a the Palo Alto "Categories", it's the "Events" column next to the category that graphs the number of each category as a percentage of the total number of categories.

Palo Alto profiles currently do not have dashboard capability. However, in the upcoming Sawmill version, 8.6.1, there will be a dashboard included by default. This version is due to ship in a week or two.
