"timezone offsetting"

   Hi,

The Sawmill plugin development folk developed a plugin to use with our Clearswift Mimesweeper WebAppliance proxy server, and it has worked a charm with processing our logfiles in Sawmill (greatly eliminating the complexity we encountered previously when using the W3C plugin to process the logfiles).

However, I still have one issue with Sawmill. The Mimesweeper WebAppliance outputs its logfiles in the following format: web.2009-07-08-08.log (web.year-month-date-hour.log), but entries in the logfile are recorded as:

2009-07-07 22:00:02 200 367 140 192.168.1.126 - 203.185.226.61 "Computing and Internet" "domain\user" http://www.website.com/etc

Each entry is recorded in GMT time (our network time is GMT+10), meaning that the logfile name is recorded as GMT+10, but the logfile entries are recorded as GMT+0.

Previously when using the W3C plugin, there was an option in the profile i had created to offset the timezone by going to log processing, general, then entering in the number of hours i needed to offset the log file entries from GMT (in my case, entering +10).

I can not find this option now though when using the custom Mimesweeper plugin. This means the webproxy data is incorrect (our peak periods of usage show as 10pm and 3am, instead of the actual period periods of 8am and 1pm). How can I rectify this?

   Nevermind, found it!

Hadn't realised that the trial was not in Professional mode, and that this in turn reduced the number of options available in Config.

Changed that, and found the offset option:

"There's a date_offset feature in the config->log data->log processing options section of the profile within Sawmill that allows you to correct the time to any timezone."
